Help Elvis go to Oxford

Hi, my name is John Fung and I am a Professor of Surgery at the University of Chicago. In 2018, I had a wonderful young medical student, Chinedu "Elvis" Nwaduru, from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, spend a month on our transplant surgery service. He was impressive, not only because he was a bright student and eager learner, but also because of his humanity and ability to achieve in the face of very limited resources. "Elvis" as we learned to call him, is a super achiever - his medical school awards include: The Provost Award for Leadership and Excellence, The PRIMUS Awards for Excellence Within and Outside of the Medical Field; Delegate to the International Model United Nations, and recipient of many awards. He has been a volunteer for the Igbo Medical and Dental Students Outreach, camp instructor for Christ the King Catholic Church Summer Camp and academic coordinator for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students, to name a few.

I have had the pleasure of mentoring Elvis, even after his return to Nigeria. His goal is to complete his general and transplant surgery training overseas and return to Nigeria to teach others and care for patients with organ failure. Part of his training will be training in immunology - to that end, Elvis applied and was accepted to the prestigious Masters of Science program in Integrated Immunology at the University of Oxford and was honored to be the recipient of one of Oxford's most prestigious and competitive scholarships - The Clarendon Scholarship. He is only the 5th Nigerian ever to receive such an honor and he will start this fall.

I am helping Elvis raise the funds he will need for visa applications, health insurance, plane tickets, and exam fees that are not covered by the scholarship. Please consider helping this young doctor to achieve his goal of becoming a transplant surgeon and eventually helping the patients in Nigeria.
