Help Elva's Recovery from Toe Amputations
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Joseph Karol Basurto. My mom, Elva Basurto, recently had 2 of her toes amputated due to an infection caused by her stubbing her left foot's pinky toe. It left a scratch. Since she is diabetic, she is more likely to get infections faster from any small scratch. Over time, she would put lotion or bandage her toe, but it got infected quicker than we imagined. Her toe became black. She got her pinky toe amputated first, then 2 weeks later at her doctor's check-up, her doctor said pus was coming out and to go to the emergency room ASAP.
At the hospital, they told us she had to get another toe amputated as it was infected as well. There isn't a picture of her second toe gone because she just had her surgery 2 days ago and her foot is bandaged. It has taken a tole on our family mentally and financially. My mom is hoping to go through recovery treatment and get medicine for her case.
It is pricey and we are asking for donations. Anything can help, even just sharing this post. Sharing this post can help other people with diabetes see the reality of what they can go through. God will provide as He always does. Thank you.
