Help Else & Nena in de strijd tegen Nena's auto-immuunziekte

(English below) Dit is Nena, het kooikerhondje van mijn zusje Else. Op deze foto zitten ze samen in het dierenziekenhuis in Waalwijk en krijgt Nena haar eerste bloedtransfusie. Een paar dagen eerder heeft Nena’s lijf namelijk besloten dat haar eigen rode bloedcellen indringers zijn die opgeruimd moeten worden: een acute auto-immuunziekte.

Nena en Else hebben normaal gesproken een actief leven: samen volgen ze wekelijks hooper-training en agility-training. Daarnaast doen ze regelmatig detectie waar Nena op de gekste plekken kruidnagel en foelie vindt. Op vrije dagen en tijdens vakanties draaien ze hun hand niet om voor een hike van meer dan 10 kilometer of staan ze samen op de SUP. Maar zonder die rode bloedcellen is dat ineens allemaal niet meer mogelijk en was zelfs eten te veel gevraagd voor Nena.

Een week geleden werd Nena met spoed opgenomen in het dierenziekenhuis. Ondertussen heeft ze 3 bloedtransfusies gehad en krijgt ze 2 verschillende medicijnen. Elke dag wordt haar bloed onderzocht om te bekijken of de medicatie al aanslaat. Als je weet dat elke bloedtransfusie €800,- kost en een nachtje opname zomaar €500,- kan kosten, dan snap je dat de rekening hard oploopt. De teller staat ondertussen al op €6.000,- en loopt nog…

Else woont alleen met Nena, Nena is dus een enorm belangrijk onderdeel van haar leven. Else is het type wat haar zaken goed op orde heeft. Als er íemand met geld om kan gaan is het Else wel. Maar de afgelopen week kwam de bodem van het spaarpotje wel erg snel in zicht. Voor de derde transfusie is Else zelf op en neer gereden naar Arnhem om bloed op te halen. Onderweg vertelde ze mij dat ze niet wist of ze een volgende transfusie nog wel kon betalen en ze er rekening mee hield dat ze Nena misschien wel in moest laten slapen. Dat kan ik niet laten gebeuren! Else ging het afgelopen half jaar zelf al door een zware tijd heen en de verwachting is dat, met de hulp die ze daarvoor gezocht heeft, het komend jaar nóg zwaarder gaat worden. Ze heeft Nena daar keihard bij nodig.

Om te voorkomen dat Else Nena moet laten inslapen terwijl de dierenarts haar nog had kunnen redden, en omdat Else niet het type is wat snel om hulp zou vragen, vraag ik jou of jij misschien een klein bedrag kan missen. Laten we er samen voor zorgen dat Nena weer thuis komt en Else geen vervelende beslissing moet nemen gebaseerd op geld!

But without those red blood cells, all of that is suddenly no longer possible and even eating was too much to ask for Nena.

A week ago, Nena was urgently admitted to the animal hospital. In the past week, she has had 3 blood transfusions and she is on 2 different medications. Her blood is tested every day to see if the medication is working. If you know that each blood transfusion is €800, and a night in the hospital may cost €500, then you understand that the bill is quickly rising. The bill is now at €6,000 and still counting…

Else lives alone with Nena, so Nena is an extremely important part of her life. Else is the type of person who has her affairs in order. If anyone can handle money, it is Else. But in de past week her savins vaporised very quickly. For the third transfusion, Else drove to Arnhem herself to collect blood. On the way she told me that she didn't know whether she could afford another transfusion and that she was considering that she might have to put Nena down. I can't let that happen! Else has been going through a difficult time herself in the past six months and the expectation is that, with the help she has sought for this, the coming year will be even harder. She really needs Nena for that.

To prevent Else from having to put Nena down while the vet could have saved her, and because Else is not the type to ask for help, I ask you if you can spare a small amount. Let's make sure together that Nena comes home again and Else doesn't have to make an unpleasant decision based on money!
