Brain Tumor Diagnosis
The day before Thanksgiving, our family’s life changed forever. Eloy went to the hospital expecting answers to symptoms he couldn’t explain. Instead, doctors discovered a brain tumor. In an instant, our plans for the holidays were replaced with fear, uncertainty, and the fight for his life. Eloy would go on to spend 25 days living in the hospital, enduring surgery, intensive treatment, and the long, exhausting beginning of recovery. While the tumor was addressed, the impact on his daily functioning has been life-altering. Eloy is currently unable to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) independently, meaning he needs help with basic tasks many of us take for granted—such as dressing, mobility, and personal care.
Behind the scenes of Eloy’s medical battle has been the emotional and physical strain on his wife, Jenny. Jenny has become Eloy’s primary caregiver while also trying to hold together their family and home. The stress is compounded by the fact that they are raising teenage children who live with Autism, children who rely heavily on routine, structure, and emotional stability—all of which were suddenly disrupted by this medical crisis. Jenny has had to miss work at H-E-B repeatedly to care for Eloy, attend medical appointments, manage hospital stays, and support their children during an incredibly confusing and frightening time. At the same time, she is navigating her own emotional duress, balancing fear for her husband’s health with the overwhelming responsibility of caregiving and parenting.
The financial strain is growing quickly: lost income due to missed work, ongoing medical bills and rehabilitation needs, and daily living expenses while adjusting to a new reality. This GoFundMe is meant to help relieve some of that burden so Jenny can focus on what matters most: helping Eloy heal and supporting their children through this trauma without the constant fear of financial collapse.
