I am raising funds for Elmira , a Tazy found abandonned & starving in the countryside of Kazakhstan , for vet bills, the preparation & the transport to her new home in France

ELMIRA'S STORY.

Elmira , a pure bred Tazy , was found wandering on a road in rural Zazakhstan, Central Asia in August 2024. She was starving with parasites , very weak & sick . She had probably been used for breeding all her life & discarded when too old & sick.

She was terrified when approached so had obviously been mistreated in her past but after some effort her rescuers managed to catch her & take her urgently to the veterinary clinic. She was given blood tests etc & found to have Babesiosis & enlarged spleen--she was immediately put on a drip & given meds --as her immune system was very weak it was not known if she was strong enough to survive but after 4 days she was eating a little alone but was very much underweight.

Further tests & examinations showed she had Stickers Sarcoma ( Canine transmissible venereal tumor) which had to be treated with 3 chemotherapy treatments--after the second she started eating well & putting on weight but was still too thin--the third Chemotherapy tratment was successful & she went into remission

She was found to hve a couple of mammery tumours that needed removing & a biopsy done of the tissue. It was originally intended to get her to Poland where this could be done under expert veterinary supervision but because of transport restrictions it was decided to carry the surgery out in Kazakhstan as it was not known when transport would be available & her health was fragile & the surgery couldn't be delayed for months.

At last in Feb /March 2025 she had put on enough weight & was much stronger so could have her vaccinations & Titre Test ready to travel in June--a fighter!

THE JOURNEY.

The journey home will be long & dangerous --the journey from Almaty to Poland will be done in 2 legs with a few days break ( 3900kms & 3000kms) Once in Poland she will be given a thorough veterinary check to make sure that no more surgery is needed etc --only when given a clean bill of health will she travel to her final home in France (2000kms)!

She has had a long road of suffering but has finally gained weight becoming a beautiful example of a Tazy! She has overcome starvation, parasite infestation, Babesiosis, Stickers Sarcoma, Chemotherapy treatment & finally mammary tumours! What a fighter she deserves a calm life.
