Help Elly Get Back on Their Feet

Hi, folks! Thanks for visiting this page. My name is Elly, and I'm a queer journalist and community organizer living in Brooklyn, New York. Over the last ten years of my life, I've worked very hard to build up an emergency savings/general savings, being that I am estranged from my parents and don't have family to back me up should I be faced with serious life expenses, or really any at all. I've experienced poverty, houselessness, domestic violence and abuse, and have somehow worked my way through all of it, only to find myself in this position. In the span of the last several months, I was hit with a multitude of emergencies and devastatingly lost more than 80% of my savings to said emergencies. 

Because of the toll that the emergencies and circumstances took on my mental health, I came to the conclusion with my therapist that I needed a temporary break from working constantly. For that reason, I'll be solely freelancing for at least the foreseeable future while I recover. I am truly scared of returning to a place where I'm completely poor and in debt or houseless, and while I think there's a very unlikely chance it will get to that point because I'm setting myself up to be in a better financial position, I'm trying to do damage control and simply cannot get back on my feet myself.

I'm asking for whatever money you can provide to help make sure I can cover rent and bills and groceries. I'm responsible with money so all of this will solely go towards being able to exist without anxiously awaiting overdraft fees and credit card debt.
