Dear friends and family,
My Name is Ellis Perkins and I'm writing to share an amazing opportunity I’ve been awarded. I was recently accepted into Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii. The main objective of this program is to involve young adults with missions and to teach more about God. The DTS program I was accepted into focuses on 4 main areas of study: God, Identity, Community and Nation. Essentially this program’s goal is to educate young people on how to bring faith into every aspect of their lives as well as exemplify what a faith based life looks like.
If I am able to go I will be participating in a 3 month program from July - October. Some would call it training, others would call it school. For me, I want to use this experience to see life from a new lens and perspective. I want to submerge myself in a new environment and gain knowledge and experience that I can use to lead a Christ centered life. I am so excited to use this opportunity to grow further in my faith.
In order for me to attend this program, I will need to raise $7,000 total to cover the cost of living in Hawaii as well as the cost of the program itself. $4,000 of my raised funds will cover the DTS cost, $2,000 will cover my plane ticket as well as insurance while in Hawaii, and $1,000 for food and daily costs. I'm reaching out in hopes to gain support in this new exciting journey and any kind of aid is greatly appreciated.
