This is Elliot, he's only one, but him and his family are facing the most difficult year of their lives.
Shortly after seeing in the new year, Elliot was having trouble walking and having pains in his legs. His mum and dad, Geoff and Harley quickly got him to their local hospital, With Elliot and his older brother Bligh, to try and see what the issue was.
Initially they just x-rayed his ankle to make sure he hadn't broken anything. The staff saw some things they didn't like and did some early tests, which showed signs of concern with elliott’s blood work. After more tests the family got a diagnosis no parent should ever have to hear, that elliot had Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The Staff at the hospital have made arrangements to get more tests and treatments for elliot, but with the NHS pushed to the limits with the continuation of Covid-19 and Omicron, these dates are being pushed back, despite best intentions of the hard working staff at the two hospitals Elliot has so far had to be treated in.
Adding to the difficulty of this awful news, Harley and Geoff are also expecting another child later this year. Harley has had to have scans and appointments while Elliot is getting treatment, making it tough to support each other.

The outlook for Elliott is good. Having caught the disease early, Children of a similar age with the same condition generally have a 90% chance of recovery. While that number is Amazing, the challenges that lay ahead for Elliot and his family are numerous. Elliot will have to go through Chemotherapy, blood transfusions and extended surveillance, and monitoring of his blood levels.
All the way through his Mum, Dad, and big brother Bligh will be by his side to help, but having to deal with the Chaos of the last couple of years, work has been hard for both parents.
Having All this come so soon after the holidays has been a big hit to the family, with all of them needing lots of help and support from family and friends. Elliots dad Geoff has said "Its mad to think these pictures were taken some ten days ago, absolutely fine, now this. Its heartbreaking"
Now having to take time off to get Elliott to appointments, in a year they were all looking forward to getting more work, and getting the boys away on holiday has had to take a backseat while they all coral around Elliott to help him through his tough time.
The funds raised here, will help the family pay their bills, spend as much time as they can with Elliot in his time of need, help with childcare for Bligh, when he’s not at school, and generally ease the pressure of this condition, which has come at a time when we are all feeling the pressure of illness, to one extent or the other.
Any support through this time would be appreciated, we know these are tough times for many reading this, but we know others will know this pain and to all those that do donate, thank you so much. Elliot, Harley, Geoff and Bligh will never forget it.
