Help Ellie Recover from a Vicious Attack

If any of you truly know me, you know that my dog Ellie is my baby. I treat her like my first born. She is my pride and joy and is one of the only things that gives me true peace in this world. She was just 2 days away from turning 11 years old when this incident occurred.

While I was at work, I got a call that a neighborhood dog came into my yard and attacked my sweet girl. The sounds I heard from my doorbell footage are some that I will never forget. While I am extremely blessed and thankful that Ellie is alive, she had to undergo an extensive surgery at an overnight emergency vet clinic to repair the injuries she sustained.

I am not a person who likes to ask for help, ESPECIALLY when it is of financial means. But I would do anything for the health and wellbeing of my dog because I truly believe animals are family.

In order to leave the vet’s office, the bill had to be paid in full which required me to max out two credit cards and drain most of the money in checking that was to be used for bills for the month. But what choice did I have? She’s my girl.

It kills me that something that is in no way our fault has become such a financial burden but, such is life. The vet had to remove a portion of Ellie’s tissue on her neck due to the severity of the wounds. She also needed to repair internal muscular injuries to her neck as well. Ellie needed pain medication and antibiotics as well as multiple x-rays and IV fluids etc.

The dog that attacked Ellie was four times her size and dragged her 25 feet through my yard before my sister was able to get her released from the dog’s grip. The dog then proceeded to attack my sister’s small dog, though he did not sustain any life threatening injuries.

I am in shambles over this whole situation, especially since they had to keep her in the vet’s office all night—all the way in Winchester at that…
