We urgently need your support in order to pay for critical mental health treatment for our precious 19-year-old daughter Ellie. Ellie, a compassionate person, and a gifted and creative author, artist, lyricist and performer, masked her suicidal depression for years, concealing her dark thoughts from us, her siblings, friends, employers, teachers, professors, as well as her therapist and psychiatrist. By chance, we learned of her plans to end her life, and intervened. Since August 2025, she has either been in a hospital or a residential treatment unit and has been safe.
We know that the Ellie we’ve lived with and loved since she was born has gifts yet to share, and to receive, and that she needs time to discover her way to live and love in the world. But, to choose life, and lead one that's meaningful for her, Ellie needs a program equipped to help someone with Ellie's multiple diagnoses. Her path forward requires specialized residential care designed for young adults with complex mental health needs, followed by a structured step-down program to support her transition back into daily life. These programs provide the depth of clinical support, skill-building, and community necessary to help her not only survive, but truly build a life that she wants to live.
Our savings are basically exhausted. It is estimated that Ellie will need another eight months of residential care, and a year in a step-down program before she can return home safely. Our best estimate as to what funds would be needed for the residential program, and for the step-down program yielded his campaign's financial target.
Please help us provide for what we pray will enable her to find her way to a new sense of hope, and a will to choose her life. If you able to contribute, any amount would be helpful. Whether or not you contribute, please circulate this plea as widely as possible, including to your family and friends, and any social media you or they connect with - and thanks in advance for whatever you are able to do.
Lenny
