Hi. I'm Ellery Rhodes, a public interest law student who has been selected for a highly prestigious law fellowship in Washington, DC this summer. While the position WILL be paid, assistance offsetting the upfront costs to move to DC for the summer and get to and from my job is not available. Additionally, the DC short-term rental market is heavily overburdened this summer, leading to all costs being much higher than ever before.
I have FINALLY found a solid lead on housing for the summer and am set to arrive in DC on May 15th. Unfortunately, I do not currently have the money available to cover anywhere near the upfront costs I need to afford. I have exhausted every other avenue to try and get enough money pooled and am still short about $2500. I am asking for any help folks might be able to provide!
This fellowship is the key to getting my foot in the door for the area of public interest law, labor law (working with unions and for employee rights), I have dreamed of working in from the day I chose to apply to law school. Thousands of law students apply every year and only about 100-150 of those applicants get placed. I am so fortunate to be one of them this year and I need the help of my friends, family, and community to make this happen. Any little bit helps and I'm eternally grateful for all of the support I have received on this journey thus far. The finish line is nearing and this is the last summer hurdle for me before I begin my final year of law school.
