My name is Ellen, and I’m a mom doing everything I can to make this Christmas special for my kids. This year has been incredibly hard for our family. I recently broke my back in two places and almost broke my jaw. Because I have osteoporosis, my bones break easily, and I pass out without warning, which means I’m always at risk of another injury. The pain is constant, and I never know when I’ll fall again.

These health challenges have made it impossible for me to work. I worry every day about how I’ll provide for my kids, especially during the holidays. On top of everything, my car isn’t working, so I have to take the bus to shop for Christmas. Right now, our tree is empty, and I feel so ashamed that I can’t give my children the Christmas they deserve. All I want is for them to wake up to gifts, good food, and a home filled with holiday cheer.
