Hi everyone, I’m Elaine. I’ve created this GoFundMe to help a dear friend of mine, Ellen Calvelo, who is currently facing her battle against breast cancer.

Ellen was diagnosed with early breast cancer last 2017 and was treated accordingly. Her surgery was successful making her live her life back to normal. However, just last December 2025, she showed symptoms of palpitations and sudden breathlessness. Ellen then underwent several tests and procedures.

Ellen devastatingly received an unimaginable news. Her previous breast cancer has progressed and has metastasised in her lungs and her bones. She was told that her condition is not curable, but is treatable. I couldn’t imagine - an understatement - how she must have felt thinking that she was already cancer-free. And she is only 42.

As Ellen is living alone and away from her family, braving this ordeal on her own drains her in all aspect. Since December, Ellen has frequented hospital for appointments and admissions. She was meant to go home with home oxygen, but she was instead transferred to Intensive Care Unit as she now requires frequent monitoring.

Before Ellen’s admission, doing her daily activities became cumbersome; therefore, helping to finance her family to come in the UK to look after Ellen is what we think is best.

Ellen is one of the most kind-hearted person I know. She is cheerful, selfless, thoughtful and generous. Her path requires courage, strength, and prayers. It also comes with a heavy financial burden.
