Hi my name is Tima and I'm raising money for my best friend Elle. When I met Elle 6 years ago she had just recently began her dialysis journey. I was amazed by her story, she survived kidney cancer as a baby, and had been living with one kidney until her 23rd birthday, when a rare disease called FSGS caused that kidney to fail. Even while getting dialysis treatment 4 days a week, Elle never stopped doing what she loves. She is one of the most talented musicians I have met, and despite her medical issues, continues to work harder than most. She is also an amazing friend, and will go out of her way for those she loves, no matter how sick she is feeling.

Unfortunately her health has drastically declined in the past year. Elle started experiencing debilitating nerve pain throughout her body, so painful she is unable to sleep for days. So painful she often cannot complete dialysis. She lives on her own and doesn't have family nearby to help, and is sometimes in so much pain she physically cannot make it out of bed to drive herself to dialysis. Recently Elle began noticing groups of lumps forming on her chest and arms, followed by extremely painful bruising. The growths and bruising continued to rapidly spread all over her whole body, covering her abdomen, legs, arms and chest.

She immediately began seeking medical help to get answers and treatment. In one week Elle visited multiple emergency rooms and specialists, yet was turned away. She had been discriminated against, verbally abused, and publicly humiliated by doctors, refusing her treatment. After months of BEGGING doctors to help, she was finally given a brain MRI which determined she has a tumor in her left frontal lobe and an abnormal spot in the white matter of her brain. Elle will need regular MRIs to monitor the brain tumors, as well as a series of major surgeries to remove the masses throughout her body. Unfortunately between dialysis, medication costs, frequent specialist visits, biopsies, and hospital stays Elle's insurance will no longer cover the entirety of her medical expenses. In order to get these life saving surgeries, procedures and necessary follow ups, she will have to pay out of pocket.

It breaks my heart seeing my 29 year old best friend suffer day after day, fighting for her health, for her life, just to be put in this impossible position. I know $20,000 will only cover a small fraction of these costs, but it will at least help her be able to get the initial surgery she needs.
