Update:
Ella did not make it. With all of your help we were able to confidently do everything we could to fight for her and make her comfortable. Thank you for investing in her and in us. We really appreciate all the kindness and support. Ella was such a special girl as many of you know. She was with us for nearly 12 years (nearly our entire marriage), joined us in 3 moves, was a comfort for many a heartbreak, and presided over countless backyard projects. She had become sweeter and sweeter with every year and we were so blessed to have her in our lives.

I am going to leave the gofundme up if you want to contribute to her medical expenses. It ended up being $2275. If anyone has any ties to the catholic church, we could use some help getting her sainthood confirmed as well.

Ella ingested poisonous seeds and needs special care. I didn't know the plant was poisonous until recently and was working to remove it yesterday. (The dogs had never paid any attention to the plant prior.) This must have awakened Ella's interest, resulting in her seeking out the seed remnants from the burn pit last night.

This morning, we found her in rough shape, lethargic, shaky, and incontinent. I was able to see seeds in her vomit, so we knew it was the plant. We took her to the vet urgent care, who consulted with an ASPCA toxicologist to get her treatment. She is currently resting, waiting to see if their efforts are helping.

We had to put down a $1500 deposit this morning and are uncertain about the future. With Yale being without a job the last month, this really hit us financially. We don't want finances to get in the way of getting Ella the treatment she needs. Due to this, I am asking for help if you are able and feel inclined. Let's get Ella back to smiling again.

*Update : They are keeping Ella through the night to continue to monitor her and keep her on the IVs she needs. The hope is that she will be stable enough in the morning to take her to our regular vet and get bloodwork to see if the treatments are working. So far our bill at the Emergency vet is quoted at $2,600 and we have a quote from our vet for $400
