Help Ella & Her Family

Hey everyone. I know many of you have followed Ella’s story and have helped by praying, sending love, support, and positive thoughts, and talking us through this scary situation.

Some background:
On Thursday, November 17th, 2022, Ella was exposed to RSV at daycare. By that Sunday she had a low grade fever and by Monday was in the ER. They kept sending her home and we kept going back, as her fever was nearly uncontrollable, her cough was terrifying, and soon she stopped eating or drinking. Finally on Friday she was transported from Skagit Valley Hospital by helicopter to Swedish Pediatric ICU where she remains with me now, still healing and recovering. Her diagnoses include: RSV (the main culprit), secondary pneumonia, Rhinovirus, enterovirus, and bronchiolitis. It’s been an extremely difficult battle and she was in critical condition over the weekend, but she is finally starting to turn the corner.

At this point, I (Ella’s mom) have missed an entire week of work. On top of that, the doctors have approved paid family leave until mid December. That’s how much time she needs to be at home to really recover from this. But Washington State Paid Family Leave only covers 60% of your wages. Even worse, there’s a 2 week waiting period for your first payment. We’ve already dipped too far into my last check on gas to and from the hospital and pediatricians office in the first week of this ordeal, not to mention her Dad coming to the hospital in Seattle each day from Camano Island to see our daughter and to give me some much needed breaks from caring for her alone. They also charge an insane amount of money to park at the hospital and will not give us any free parking vouchers.

I will be taking the leave because I need my girl to fully heal but I truly can’t afford to live on 60% of my pay - literally less than minimum wage.

Please help us

Anything, literally anything helps. $20 is gas, food, diapers. Thank you for reading!
