Elizabeth’s father lost decades of tools, machinery, and equipment he had planned to use in retirement for independent work. Elizabeth’s mother lost handmade furniture built by her father, along with the home office she relied on to help support the household. Some parts of the house are still unsafe to enter, so the full extent of the damage is not even known yet.

The fire has also created immediate daily challenges for the whole family. Two of Elizabeth’s sisters lost their cars, which they depended on for work and full-time college. The family is grieving the loss of beloved pets, including one cat and her kittens, and one dog is still missing. Donations will help Elizabeth’s parents and sisters with temporary rehousing, immediate necessities, time away from work as they handle the aftermath, and urgent needs caused by losing transportation and essential belongings.
