Urgent Help Needed for Life-Saving Spine, Hip, and Vision Surgeries - Please Support Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth Olubunmi Ibuje, and I am humbly reaching out for help during the most difficult and painful season of my life. I am living with sickle cell disorder, and I am now visually impaired due to complications from previous spinal surgery. Today, I am facing a severe medical crisis involving my entire spine and my left hip, and without urgent surgery, I risk permanent paralysis and complete loss of mobility.

1. What is the real issue?

I currently have a complex spine and hip condition affecting the:

• Thoracic spine

• Cervical spine

• Lumbar spine

There are loose implants and screws from a previous spinal surgery that have shifted out of place, causing constant nerve pain, pressure, and bulging around my spine. These loose implants prick my body when I sit, lie down, or sleep, causing extreme discomfort and chronic, unmanageable pain. This needs urgent surgical correction.

In addition, I have a badly fractured left hip with Avascular Necrosis (loss of blood supply), which has caused my femur head to collapse. The joint is deteriorating and requires an immediate hip replacement.

2. Why do I need to do this?

I need these surgeries to save my mobility, prevent further damage, and reduce the risk of permanent paralysis. My mobility has drastically declined — I can no longer stand, sit for long, or walk without assistance. Pain medication is no longer effective in managing the severity of chronic pain.

If these surgeries are not done soon:

• The spine may collapse further

• Nerve damage could worsen

• Paralysis of both legs is a real possibility

• The hip joint will continue to deteriorate

• My ability to live independently will be lost completely.

I also need help with vision correction because the previous spinal surgery complications caused nerve-related visual damage, leaving me visually impaired.

3. When – What happened?

All of this began after a previous spinal surgery developed serious complications. Instead of recovery, I experienced worsening pain, implant failure, and nerve damage that resulted in my loss of vision. Since then, my health has continued to decline. My hip collapsed due to lack of blood supply, my spine became unstable, and I can no longer live or function normally without assistance.

This has affected every part of my life. I have not been able to work to support myself, which has left me financially overwhelmed with medical costs and therapy needs.

4. How? — What the funds will cover

I am urgently raising $200,000 to cover critical medical needs, including:

Medical Procedures & Care

• Diagnostics, blood exchange, and pre-surgery care

• Spinal correction surgeries (to remove the entire existing bad implants to replace new implant procedure)

• Left hip replacement surgery

• Post-surgery recovery, pain management, medications, and physical therapy

• Rehabilitation to regain mobility

• Vision correction (surgery or visual aid)

Post-Surgical Support

• Mobility support devices

• Follow-up appointments and continuing care

• Basics needed to survive while unable to work during long recovery
