Help Elizabeth out of the wheelchair and back on her horse
Donation protected
On July 28, the day before she was to start her new job as an in-home care provider for local elderly, my wonderful wife Elizabeth was throwing down bales of hay from the top of a 12 foot stack in the barn when the stack partially collapsed and threw her down.
She landed on her feet, but suffered two fractures in her left ankle, a fractured right heel, and a fractured vertebrae. She required surgery and plates on the ankle and complete immobilization of both of her feet and her back.
After three weeks of hospitalization she was released to home care but is confined to a wheelchair for several months because she cannot be weight baring on either foot until all the fractures heal.
Luckily, I was laid off my job the month before her accident so I have been home and able to take care of our farm, our five horses and now her, a full-time responsibility that I don’t know how I would be able to do if I were working twelve hour shifts. However, unemployment does not come close to paying the bills, and after spending our savings on wheelchairs and ramps and boots and various equipment required for her rehabilitation, we are unable to make ends meet.
And now the medical bills are beginning to arrive in the mailbox.
Neither of us have family that could help out, so I am starting this fund raiser.
