Help Me Heal After a Bike Accident – Finger Surgery Fundraiser
Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and I’m reaching out for help after an unexpected and accident. Just yesterday, I fell while riding my bicycle and fractured one of my fingers. The break is serious enough that I need surgery to heal properly and avoid long-term damage.
To make things even more difficult—I don’t have medical insurance. That means every part of this, from the emergency care to the surgery and follow-up treatment, is coming entirely out of pocket. The financial stress is overwhelming, especially while dealing with the physical pain and limited mobility.
This injury has impacted so many parts of my life. I work as a caregiver for young children in a pre-K setting—work that I love and that requires me to be active and hands-on every day. Right now, I’m unable to do my job fully, and that’s incredibly hard for me emotionally. I also rely on my hands for the things that make my life meaningful: I create art, play the ukulele, cook, and ride my bicycle—all of which I can’t do right now.
Cycling, in particular, has been a big part of my life. I recently completed the MS-150 ride to raise money for people living with multiple sclerosis. Supporting others through that ride was a powerful experience—and now, unexpectedly, I find myself needing support, too.
I’m trying to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of the surgery, medical supplies, and recovery care. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me closer to healing and returning to the work and activities I love. If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story and being part of my healing journey.
With gratitude,
