Help Elizabeth fight stage 4 Ocular Melanoma!!!

I'm Alisha. Our family is feeling the overwhelming worry of being able to reduce not only the emotional and physical stress, but also the financial stress that my sister, Elizabeth, and her family are going through. We are reaching out for help and all funds raised will go toward medical, travel, and lodging for treatments as well as lessen the burden of missing work during this FIGHT!

In 2015, Elizabeth's life as she knew it was unexpectedly derailed with her diagnosis of Ocular Melanoma, a rare cancer that attacks the eye.

With much hope, Elizabeth and her husband traveled to Seattle to attempt to qualify for a treatment that could possibly save her eye. Upon assessment, they found out that the cancer was too far progressed and that her eye could not be saved. This resulted in the loss of her eye. She was 36 years old with 5 children and a granddaughter.

Elizabeth remained positive and really leaned into her faith and her family. She received a prosthetic eye which had to be removed a while after due to infection. The prosthetic was replaced after healing and she has spent these last ten years focused on her family, her health, and her faith. She's been blessed with two additional grandbabies for a total of three and has taken a huge part in helping to raise them. Her 8-year-old granddaughter Roo has been refusing to leave her side and has been learning to help with taking her vitals and keeping track of them in her own journal as this needs to be done every 6 hours.

Elizabeth is the glue that holds her family together! She never passes judgment and is often the reminding voice that we never know the struggles of another person and should be kind and forgiving. She is the most giving and selfless person. She takes those traits with her in every aspect of her life including her work life. Elizabeth could make more money doing many other things but she chose to be in social work helping the less fortunate in her community find housing and resources to help ensure their safety and success, putting the community's needs above her own. Helping people flee from dangerous and substandard situations.

It is time we come together and return the selflessness to help save her life!

CANCER has returned and with a vengeance! The beast that started in her eye has spread to her bones, liver, and breast. The treatment costs have already started piling up into the thousands and that's the actual out-of-pocket number! There is a trial in Seattle that we are in the works of getting her into; there will be travel and hotel costs associated in addition to the close to $40,000 we are already looking at just for the next few months of chemo. That doesn't include everyday bills to support the household.

As you can imagine, these numbers are already seeming horribly stressful to figure out, especially factoring the time off work both Elizabeth and her husband Bruce will have to take for her treatment and care.

They have already had to jump through hoops as insurance that she works and pays for tried to deny any form of treatment, causing a delay in the start of her chemo.

We realize times are difficult, even if you can donate $1, it all adds up and all is appreciated. We will update regularly.

Please share Elizabeth's story to help spread the word and further their support!

Help give her every chance she has at watching these beautiful grandbabies grow and enjoying many more years with her dedicated husband, children, family, and friends who need her.
