Help Elizabeth fight leukemia and make her strong and happy

A couple of weeks ago, our family’s foundation was shaken to its core after receiving devastating news: our five-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. What started as a fever, which happens to every kid once in a while, evolved into my daughter having a nose bleed, vomiting, and walking and sitting down with difficulty, which ultimately had us rushing her to the hospital. All of this, in my ignorance, I thought it was because she had probably dehydrated, and I thought that maybe an IV would be sufficient, and she would be back home in a couple of hours. Little did I know. While my husband took her to ER, I stayed home taking care of Elizabeth’s twin brother. I started having a very bad feeling when my husband texted me from the ER telling me that something seemed off. The Doctors were running around like crazy, and with so many Doctors and nurses around her, it just didn’t seem normal for “just a fever.” Suddenly, the Doctor calls him outside and tells him, what was later confirmed, that it could be Leukemia. We later understood that if we had not taken her to the hospital at that moment, maybe she would not be with us today. Her hemoglobin levels were at 2. This could have led to a fatal ending, but God gave her and us another chance. She stayed almost 2 weeks at Stony Brook Hospital. The way she was cared for, the celerity with which the Doctors acted, saved her and gives us hope that she will be fine, but it will take several years for her to be out of danger. This means that we will have to pay several insurance deductibles, which are very expensive. The financial burden falls entirely on my husband since I can’t work.
I have to add that even though our family is very far away, their love and devotion to our daughter and the beautiful way our friends here and back in our hometown have shown us the power of love, has been a touching stone for us to be strong through all of this nightmare. I feel nothing but gratitude towards all of you who have cared for our daughter and our family. We are forever indebted to you.
As we are trying to navigate through these difficult times, we are asking everyone to pray for Elizabeth. We are beyond grateful for all the support from everyone.
