Help Elizabeth Create Safe Home and Empower Women

Donation protected
My name is Elizabeth Peralta. I am a Parsons School of Design graduate, advocate, and survivor rebuilding my life after domestic violence and the recent loss of my mother, Elizabeth Brook, in 2023. My journey has been shaped by both hardship and resilience — from growing up in New York City as a Puerto Rican and Dominican daughter and granddaughter, to facing violence within my family and at the hands of the NYPD, to now living in a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence.

Through it all, I have leaned on my art, my activism, and the example of my grandmother, Elizabeth Irizarry, whose strength and resilience continue to guide me even years after her passing. Inspired by her, I am aiming to start a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called The Pride Hair Foundation, which will provide wigs for cancer survivors, prioritizing Black and Brown women who are too often left out of the beauty narrative.

Alongside this, I am creating a visual podcast called The Pride Hair Show — a platform to share stories, celebrate resilience, and empower women to feel beautiful at any age or stage. This project will serve as proof of concept to show the impact of the foundation while raising awareness and building community support.

Why I’m Asking for Your Help

To make this vision a reality, I need your support to:
• Secure Safe Housing – transition out of a domestic violence shelter and into a stable home.
• Pay Back Student Loans – from my education at Parsons, which has shaped my work in art, fashion, and advocacy.
• ️ Register The Pride Hair Foundation as a 501(c)(3) – covering the legal and administrative costs of establishing a nonprofit in New York.
• Produce The Pride Hair Show – creating professional-quality episodes with the help of my team of luchadores (fighters), including videographers, editors, stylists, and photographers.
• ‍♀️ Provide Wigs for Survivors – ensuring that women facing hair loss due to illness can access high-quality wigs that honor and celebrate their beauty.
• ️ Rebuild Home Essentials – furniture and supplies needed to create a safe, healing space where I can continue this work.
