At Coastal Probate Trust and Elder Law, we work closely with seniors and their families every day, helping them navigate complex situations involving aging, cognitive decline, death, and long-term care.
We became involved with Elizabeth Collins’ case after learning that she, an elderly woman living with dementia, had been arrested following a tragic incident in which she mistook her husband for an intruder. This was not an act of violence rooted in malice—it was the result of a confused and frightened elderly individual affected by a serious medical condition.
Our goal is to assist Mrs. Collins in getting out of jail and into an appropriate facility where she can be evaluated, stabilized, and treated in a setting appropriate for her condition. We are also working to get her qualified for Medicaid and placed in a long-term care facility.
We’re asking for the community’s help in raising money to post Mrs. Collins’ bond and support her transition into a safer location. All proceeds will be used for Mrs. Collins’ care. This is a heartbreaking situation, but it’s also a reminder of how important it is for families, professionals, and community members to come together when someone vulnerable needs help. We are proud to be part of that effort.
