Help Elizabeth and Family Through Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Hi my name is Elizabeth, most call me Liz, Elle, Beth etc. I am a Mother of 3 amazing children(Kingston, 11, Vida, 7, and Gianna, 2), a wife to an amazing husband, oldest sister to 4 siblings and daughter to 3 incredible parents.

In 2024 our life has taken an unexpected turn.

A lump in my neck was found. I then went to the doctor to have it checked out and started going through extensive testing and imaging, biopsies… results came back and I have been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. It has traveled to lymph nodes. I am currently waiting for my PET SCAN results to make sure it hasn’t spread to other parts of my body as well.
It all started to make sense after many months of feeling off, exhausted, sick, in pain etc.

As I go through surgery and treatments I will update everyone step by step because the treatment plans may change along the way.

As of now, I will be having a major surgery on my neck removing the lymph nodes in the center and right side of my neck as well as removing my thyroid in DECEMBER 2024. I will then follow up with radiation treatments to fight any cancer cells left.

Neither my family nor I were prepared for this life-altering news, and even less so for the financial burden that comes with it. The medical expenses have started to accumulate quickly, and the cost of all of the doctors appointments —including bloodwork, CT scans, PET scans, multiple types of biopsy procedures, major surgery on my neck(total thyroidectomy and lateral neck dissections on the center and right side removing tumor and lymph nodes), radiation sessions, specialist consultations, and medications—has placed an enormous strain on us. On top of that, the cost of everyday living expenses like rent, groceries, Christmas and transportation to and from treatments has become overwhelming as I am not able to work. Kashta is having to take time away from work as well to be here for me and to help with our 3 children while we as a family navigate through this battle. Recovery will also bring additional costs, such as follow-up care, hormone therapy, additional testing and more time away from work.

I’m incredibly grateful for my husband, who has been my rock emotionally and financially, but this illness has drained our savings much faster than we anticipated.

This is why we’ve decided to create this GoFundMe. With humility and hope, I’m reaching out for your support—whether through a donation, sharing this link, or sending prayers and encouragement to help us through this challenging time.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference and brings us closer to the goal of my recovery. Your kindness and generosity will help alleviate the financial stress, allowing me to focus on my treatments and healing.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for standing with me in this fight.

With gratitude,
Elizabeth, Kashta, Kingston, Vida, & Gianna

UPDATE 3/19/25

Hey everyone! I got some hopeful news from the pulmonologist the other day. I had another scan done recently and they told me that the nodule on my lung hasn't changed since the previous scan which looks promising!!!! (If it would have grown they would have wanted to do a biopsy of it because the previous scan showed it as suspicious but too small to know for sure)
So for right now we will wait another 6 months and do another scan and check on it.

UPDATE 3/24/25
The cancer has spread outside of the thyroid and lymph nodes so I have to have a treatment to help get rid of any cancer cells left.

I have officially started preparing my body to go through radio active iodine treatment. I have gone off of my thyroid hormone medication. It has definitely had some unpleasant side effects without it. (Extreme fatigue, nausea, mood swings etc.)
I have started a no iodine diet to get myself iodine deficiency prior to the treatment being given to me. The more deficient I am the better the treatment should work.
I have a series of appointments, scans, labs etc prior to the actual treatment day. I will receive treatment on April 4th and 8th and will have to quarantine until I am no longer radioactive which takes a week or more depending on the dosage. I may be hospitalized during the treatment as well.
Thats the only new information I have for you today.

We also would like to say thank you to everyone for your support during this time!

Hope to have some positive news soon!!
