For the past several years, I’ve been doing Trap–Neuter-Vaccinate–Return (TNvR) work for community cats. This means humanely trapping outdoor cats, getting them spayed/neutered and vaccinated, then returning them to their colony so they can live healthier lives without continuing the cycle of kittens. TNvR is one of the most effective and compassionate ways to reduce suffering in feral cat populations. It prevents endless litters, reduces fighting and disease, and improves quality of life for the cats who are already here.
Right now, I need better equipment to continue this work safely and effectively. I’m hoping to purchase two TruCatch Fat Cat traps, a transport carrier, and a trail camera. Having reliable equipment makes a huge difference. The new traps will provide a better post-surgery environment for the cats, as they are a smidge larger than the trap I have been working with, and can fit a small litter box, which helps the cats feel more comfortable. Many Feral cats will not relieve themselves in a small space where they are stuck. For their safety, I like to make sure the kitties are eating and at least peeing before releasing them back to their homes. My old trap is rusting and becoming unsafe, and I've been borrowing a trap and a drop trap from a caretaker of a colony i worked on last year. Having my own equipment will allow me to return borrowed items and continue my work more effectively. The trail camera will help me monitor the colony, determine the population, and identify which cats still need to be trapped.
Having reliable equipment makes a huge difference. It reduces stress for the cats, increases trapping success, and helps me avoid wasting limited low-cost spay/neuter appointments.
Any contribution—no matter the size—directly supports preventing unwanted litters, reducing suffering and disease, protecting wildlife, and supporting healthier, more stable cat colonies. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser helps just as much. Thank you for supporting humane, boots-on-the-ground community cat work.
