My name is Elisha, and I’m a student at Florida A&M University working toward my dream of becoming a music educator. Music has always been more than a hobby for me — it’s my calling, my discipline, and the way I serve others. Getting to FAMU wasn’t easy. It took faith, consistency, and a lot of late nights, but I pushed through. I applied, got accepted, and earned a band scholarship to be part of a program with deep tradition and excellence. That scholarship helped a lot, but it didn’t cover everything. Right now, I’m left with a remaining balance that I have to clear in order to register for my spring classes. If I can’t take care of that, I won’t be able to continue this semester. As an out-of-state student at an HBCU, the costs add up fast — and this year, everything increased. Still, quitting isn’t an option for me. I’m walking in the footsteps of the band directors, mentors, and educators who poured into me and showed me what’s possible. Returning for the spring means I get to keep sharpening my skills, growing as a musician, and preparing to give back through music education. If you’re able to support, your help would go directly toward paying off my balance and allowing me to stay enrolled. Whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer, it all means more than you know. Thank you for believing in me, supporting my journey, and being part of my village.
