Elisabeth Coble is a dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and nurse. She has four adult children and three beautiful granddaughters, who are the light of her life. Elisabeth was diagnosed with a debilitating brain condition called Intracranial Hypotension caused by a spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak. She has been battling this condition for nearly four years and has had many procedures to treat this difficult condition. Her team of doctors in Boston is recommending that she go see the top CSF leak specialists at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles for surgery to try to fix this. The specialist there is willing to perform exploratory surgery and possible repair of the dura. The lack of fluid to cushion and support her brain causes severe nausea, vomiting, head pain, neck pain, decreased cognitive ability, and the inability to function. Elisabeth spends the greater portion of her day lying flat or her brain will sag into her neck, which is dangerous and puts her at risk for coma or death. She will need to be in LA for several weeks while her brain and spine recover. Prior to becoming completely disabled, Elisabeth was a pediatric and adult medical-surgical nurse as well as a clinical nursing instructor for obstetrics and maternity. She supported breastfeeding mothers as an IBCLC. Elisabeth can no longer work or drive. She is also unable to be an active and involved grandmother, which is devastating to her. Please consider donating to Elisabeth’s cause so she can get to California for life-changing surgery, get better and return to the work she loves and treasures . . . . that of being a registered nurse, a lactation consultant, a mother, a grandmother, and a teacher!
