My name is Elisa, and right now my world revolves around my son Zahari, who has been in the NICU for 63 days. He was born very early at just one pound and eight ounces, so every day is a challenge for him and for me. The hospital is a 40-minute drive from my home, and my car’s transmission is about to give out. Other parts are failing too, and fixing it would cost more than getting a reliable used car. Not having dependable transportation is making it incredibly hard to be there for Zahari as much as I want to be.

I’m handling most of this on my own, with some help from Zahari’s father, but we can’t afford a new vehicle. I’m hoping to raise enough for a reliable car—ideally something bigger to carry a stroller and everything Zahari needs, but at this point, any safe car will make a difference. This situation has taken a huge emotional and financial toll on me. I can’t always see my son every day, and paying for rides just to visit him is heartbreaking. I’ve reached out for help, but so far, no one has been able to support us in getting a vehicle.
