Help Elisa get her Service Dog!

Hi everyone! My name is Elisa, and I’m an elementary school teacher and instructional coach in Southern California. Teaching is not just my career, it’s my calling. Working with students, supporting fellow educators, and helping shape joyful, inclusive classrooms is what I’m most passionate about. I love my work, and I am committed to staying in the field for as long as I can.
Outside of school, I find joy in the simple things: biking, going to the beach, watching movies, baking sweet treats, and spending time with my family, especially making memories with my nephew. But behind the scenes, I live with dysautonomia and chronic migraines, which can make daily life unpredictable and, at times, unsafe.
Dysautonomia affects my nervous and cardiovascular systems, causing symptoms like dizziness, fainting, tremors, and visual disturbances. These symptoms come on suddenly and without warning, sometimes in the middle of the school day. While I do my best to manage them, they pose a real risk to my safety and can jeopardize my ability to do the work I love.
That’s why I’m seeking the support of a trained service dog. This dog will be specially trained to detect early signs of an episode and alert me before I faint, giving me time to sit, get help, or take action to stay safe. The dog will also provide physical support during and after an episode, helping me regain stability and recover more quickly.
This isn’t just about improving my personal life, it’s about making it possible for me to continue showing up every day for my students, my colleagues, and my school community. Having a service dog will allow me to continue working safely and confidently in a fast-paced environment where my presence matters.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward the cost of training and matching me with a medical alert service dog. This isn’t a want, it’s a need. And your support will help ensure I can remain independent, secure, and most importantly, able to do the work I love.
Thank you for helping me take this life-changing step, whether by donating or simply sharing my story.
