Help Elis Afford Therapy!

Hello! My name is Elis, and I am trying to afford one year of therapy.

I cannot afford to see my therapist, a crucial part of my healing, without your help. 

After much searching for a black therapist who has personal and in depth experience and practice with my areas of need, I have reconnected with a wonderful therapist! She and I worked together previously when she was in-network, and I made so much amazing progress with her. I am so, so excited to begin this part of my healing journey with her, and we hope to begin meeting September 9th. The catch: her sessions are $210/each. I am hoping and trusting to raise enough money to cover 1 year, or 52 weeks of weekly sessions.

The past year and a half have come with numerous setbacks: I've lost my job twice due to Covid, I've been scammed out of the entirety of my little savings, I have been diagnosed with a chronic medical condition which will require surgery, I have lost my insurance, and am navigating a traumatic break up. As a black, queer, fat woman, I am already navigating daily heightened stress and violence--inherited, systemic, internalized, constant--and in the past year and a half my mental health has rapidly deteriorated. These ongoing uncertainties plus the constant unknown of the pandemic and political turmoil have contributed to my anxiety and depression acutely worsening. 

If my therapy bill is covered, I will be able to pay rent and utilities, and put money aside for much needed medical and dental costs. If my therapy bill is covered, I will be able to rebuild my savings account for future emergencies. Most of all, if my therapy bill is covered, I will be able to show up to my own healing, unafraid that access to therapy will suddenly end. I so desperately want to be well, and I need your support!
