Elijah Federico Moreno is a bright, loving four-year-old who sees the world in his own unique way. Though he is non-verbal and on the autism spectrum, what truly defines Elijah is his incredible spirit. His laughter is contagious, his hugs are full of warmth, and his eyes light up with wonder as he explores. Elijah communicates through his presence and heart, sharing his magical spirit with everyone around him.
We are raising funds to bring a certified service dog into Elijah’s life. We recently applied for a service dog, and while we don’t know the exact match yet, we hope for a Golden Retriever or Labrador—breeds known for their gentle nature and ability to provide unconditional love. The service dog will be trained to offer companionship, comfort, and protection. Most importantly, the dog will help keep Elijah safe, especially since he tends to run or hide, and will be able to retrieve him from dangerous situations. The dog will also be a constant friend, sharing Elijah’s love for water and adventure.
The cost of the service dog program is significant, and the organization requires the full fee before they can select and begin training a dog for Elijah. The training process takes about two years, and once the dog is ready, we will need to travel from California to Ohio to bring the dog home. This includes expenses for airfare, hotel, and other travel needs. The sooner we can raise the funds, the sooner Elijah can begin this life-changing journey with his service dog. Your support will help provide safety, companionship, and new opportunities for Elijah to thrive.
