Help Elijah and Mocha Reach Middlebury College
Donation protected
Elijah, his service dog Mocha, and his mom live in Miami in a historically underserved area with the average mean income around $30,000, within a very difficult health and financial situation. Their family income is much less than the mean. In spite of this, Elijah completed dual enrollment where he got Superintendent's award of Distinction, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Miami-Dade Honors College, graduated 4.0 (associates degree) and cum laude at his high school and several other awards.
Elijah competed for and was selected for a merit award at Middlebury College in Vermont, one of the top liberal arts schools in the nation. "Last week on settling our travel plans for his trip to college we were told by the college that this did not include transportation although it was part of his assessment." They have to get there first and then travel may be reimbursed.
"We were blindsided and immediately reached out for help." Elijah has Asperger's Autism so he will not be able to navigate travel by himself. "I'd like to see that he and Mocha get there safe and he's settled in as this will be a big change for him."
We are asking for any donations you can also provide including food for Mocha.
Elijah must travel by August 27th. The mode of travel preferably is by the Amtrak Train.
