Elías is almost three years old and suffers profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (deafness). He needs a cochlear implant that costs roughly US$32,800. It will make him able to hear and speak.

Elías is from Paraguay, and has been using hearing aids since he was 1 year old. But hearing aids are not enough, he needs a cochlear implant - an electronic device, a microchip, that is surgically installed inside the inner ear, in the cochlea. The cochlear implant will restore his hearing so he can be able to learn language and speech.

It's critical that Elias be implanted at 3 years old, every moment he passes with hearing loss compromises his future learning of the speech
