Who is Elias?

Elias is the two-year-old son of my cousin and has already experienced more misery in his short life than most people do in their entire existence. I am starting a fundraiser here to help this young family leave the Gaza Strip. Let me tell you the story of Elias' past six months here.

Escape into Darkness

In the narrow alleys of Gaza, where once the laughter of children echoed, began a painful journey for Moneer Saqallah, his wife Nour Alrayyes, and little Elias. On a cold October night, the roar of planes filled the sky, and the young couple recognized the urgent need to flee. With pounding hearts, they ventured into the darkness of the night to escape the inevitable attack. The young family was separated from the rest of the family and managed to survive. Their home and the entire neighborhood turned into rubble overnight.

Surviving amidst Ruins

Months passed, and the family traversed a world filled with rubble and despair. Food donations from kind-hearted people in Gaza were their only hope and source of survival. Amidst the ruins, they found shelter from the ongoing bombardments, while little Elias, despite the chaos around him, viewed the world with still innocent eyes.

The Arduous Journey to Rafah

The border to Rafah became their escape route, an escape from the enduring suffering. After a perilous journey through the destroyed streets of Gaza, they finally reached the gate to Rafah. But the challenges were far from over. Crossing the border is not possible for the young family. Fees are required to cross the border.

Refugees in Crowded Spaces

Exhausted and hungry, they found temporary refuge in a crowded building. The conditions were far from ideal, but it was better than the constant danger outside. The Saqallah family longed for a moment of peace to regain hope.

Sleeping under the Starry Sky

But even this refuge became too small as the crowds grew. In a night of desperation, the family was told to leave the overcrowded building and sleep under the open sky. The stars over Rafah were their only companions in this dark time.

The Fight against Hunger

However, life outdoors brought new problems. Access to food became scarce throughout the Gaza Strip, and the Saqallah family struggled with hunger. Elias, so young and innocent, could not comprehend the severity of the situation.

The chance to help

It is possible for Elias and his family to leave the Gaza Strip and find refuge in Egypt with our relatives. However, they need to pay approximately $10,000 per person to do so. The money will be spent to egyptian aothoraty to alow the young family to enter egypt. We hope for your help here. All three are still alive and unharmed. Please help me get the family safely out of the Gaza Strip.

what will happen to the money?

The money will be transferred to the sister of my cousin's wife. She will then arrange the passage for the young family through a travel agency. A prerequisite for this is that there are relatives in Egypt where the family can live. The names of all individuals will then be passed on to the border crossing point. Once this is done, the three individuals can cross the border and arrive safely in Egypt.

Who am i?

I am Moneer's cousin, and I live in Hamburg. The only way I can communicate with Moneer is when he leaves his family and travels 4 km to the Egyptian border where he has access to internet. This is where he took this picture of himself. Moneer was a sunny personality; he was always the center of attraction, and we had so much fun as kids. To me, knowing what he went through and seeing him this way was heartbreaking.

Wer ist Elias?

Elias ist der zweijährige Sohn meines Cousins und hat bereits in seinem kurzen Leben mehr Elend erlebt als die meisten Menschen in ihrem gesamten Dasein. Inmitten der Ruinen fanden sie Schutz vor den anhaltenden Bombardements, während der kleine Elias trotz des Chaos um ihn herum die Welt noch mit unschuldigen Augen betrachtete.

Die beschwerliche Reise nach Rafah

Die Grenze zu Rafah wurde zu ihrer Fluchtroute, einer Flucht vor dem anhaltenden Leiden. Nach einer gefährlichen Reise durch die zerstörten Straßen des Gazastreifens erreichten sie schließlich den Grenzübergang zu Rafah. Doch die Herausforderungen waren damit noch lange nicht vorbei. Die Überquerung der Grenze ist für die junge Familie nicht möglich. Gebühren sind erforderlich, um die Grenze zu überqueren.

Flüchtlinge in überfüllten Räumen

Erschöpft und hungrig fanden sie vorübergehend Zuflucht in einem überfüllten Gebäude. Die Bedingungen waren alles andere als ideal, aber es war besser als die ständige Gefahr draußen. Die junge Familie sehnte sich nach einem Moment des Friedens, um Hoffnung zu schöpfen.

Schlafen unter dem Sternenhimmel

Doch auch diese Zuflucht wurde zu eng, als die Menschenmassen wuchsen. In einer Nacht der Verzweiflung wurde der Familie befohlen, das überfüllte Gebäude zu verlassen und unter freiem Himmel zu schlafen. Die Sterne über Rafah waren ihre einzigen Begleiter in dieser dunklen Zeit.

Der Kampf gegen den Hunger

Allerdings brachte das Leben im Freien neue Probleme mit sich. Der Zugang zu Nahrungsmitteln wurde im gesamten Gazastreifen knapp, und die Familie Saqallah kämpfte mit Hunger. Elias, so jung und unschuldig, konnte die Ernsthaftigkeit der Situation nicht begreifen.

Die Chance zu Helfen
