Help Elia Get the Accessible Van She Needs
Hello, our names are Jennifer and Federico Trevino, and we’re reaching out to share our daughter Elia’s story. We are humbly asking for your support in helping us secure something life-changing for her and our family: a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
Elia is a bright, joyful 8-year-old who loves unicorns, mermaids, reading, and all things girly. However, unlike most kids her age, Elia has a diagnosis of spastic cerebral palsy and requires a wheelchair for mobility.
Born prematurely at just 28 weeks and weighing 2 lbs. 11 oz., Elia spent over two months in the NICU before coming home. At 10 months old, she was diagnosed with Spastic Cerebral Palsy. Since infancy, she has worked incredibly hard in physical and occupational therapy and had two surgeries. While she has gained strength, she is still unable to stand or walk independently. Elia received her first wheelchair at 4 years old, which has given her independence and opened up her world.
Now that Elia is 8 years old and weighs more than 65 pounds, lifting her in and out of our car has become increasingly difficult and unsafe for both her and us. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. With it, we could safely transport Elia, reduce the physical strain on our family, and most importantly, give her the dignity and independence she deserves as she grows.
This van wouldn’t just be transportation—it would be freedom. It would mean safe and accessible trips to school, therapy, doctor’s appointments, family outings, and adventures. It would give Elia the ability to experience life to its fullest without the constant barrier of unsafe and exhausting transfers.
We believe in the kindness and generosity of our community and beyond. Your gift, no matter the size, would make an enormous impact on Elia’s daily life and her future.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading Elia’s story and considering a donation to help us reach this goal. Together, we can open the world to her.
With love and gratitude,
Jennifer, Federico, and Elia Trevino
