Help Eli with her recovery and hospital expenses
Donation protected
On January 1st 2022 my sister Eli-Ruth Salgado Ortiz, a local San Luis Obispo nurse and loving mother to a 9 year old, went snowboarding at China Peak. It was her last run of the day, when some guy came speeding down the slopes. He crashed into her and fled the scene, leaving her unconscious. Finally, she woke up but she couldn’t move. The ski patrol rushed her down the slope where they waited an hour and a half for an ambulance. Her 9 year old son waited with worry and fear as he saw her leaving in an ambulance. The ambulance went to a safe landing spot and waited for a helicopter to take her to a hospital in Fresno. She is suffering from a terrible hit to the head and back. Luckily Eli was wearing a helmet, so the impact could have done more damage. She is currently starting physical therapy to see what type of damage was done to her body.
There is currently no long term damage seen in her brain, but she is still being monitored by the doctors. It is going to take some time to heal, so she won’t be able to work for a while. Our family is so fortunate that Eli is alive. We know the doctors are doing everything they can to help. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover all the hospital expenses. This includes the ambulance, helicopter, hospital bills, and physical therapy.
Eli helps our SLO community everyday by being a frontline worker, even through the rise of COVID. We are now asking our community to give back. Anything helps, thank you!
