Hi everyone ! Thank you for taking the time to read this and help my dear friend Eli Pérez!
Eli, if you don’t have the pleasure of knowing her already, is an incredible human and equally as incredible dancer. She unfortunately suffered an injury to her knee earlier in the year and has been unable to go back to teaching dance. This past Monday, she finally received surgery and is now in the process of healing.
Here are a few words from her:

Eli, if you don’t have the pleasure of knowing her already, is an incredible human and equally as incredible dancer. She unfortunately suffered an injury to her knee earlier in the year and has been unable to go back to teaching dance. This past Monday, she finally received surgery and is now in the process of healing.
Here are a few words from her:
“For the past years I've been sharing my dance journey with you. You know how passionate I am about dance and how important it is to me. During the pandemic I was able to assist in classes and teach to encourage people to give dance a chance.
As some of you know, I collapsed in the middle of class while teaching in August 7, 2021. My kneecap popped out of place and back in, I was unable to walk so I had to get carried out. After a few doctor's visits, X-rays and a MRI later, I have been scheduled to get surgery November 1st.
My ligament has been torn so I decided to move forward with the MPFL reconstructive surgery. The estimated time of recovery is 6 weeks in which I will not be able to do any normal activity without assistance. My doctor agreed that surgery is a good option for me because I am still young and not getting the surgery could cause further damage in the future.
In the past I have tried to get health insurance and I have been shut down from a good/decent coverage due to my immigration status, also being a DACA recipient does not make me eligible for Affordable Care benefits. No insurance has caused all my medical bills (past and future bills) to be paid out of pocket.
I am hoping to be fully recovered in the 6 weeks but it can take longer, during that time my mobility will be limited. I won't be able to work, walk, drive, shower by myself, go grocery shopping etc. and I will need Physical Therapy. I am asking for funds to help pay outstanding medical bills, home medical supplies (so I can facilitate using my shower, knee brace, pain medicine etc.) any medical expenses associated with my surgery and physical therapy.
If you are able to please consider donating to help with my medical expenses. Any amount helps!
I am extremely grateful for everyone that has already checked in on me and has offered to help.”
Again, thank you for taking the time to read this and considering helping out my dear friend. If there’s one thing I’d want you to know about Eli is that she’s worth all the love she gives and more. Selfless and kind, an inspiration to many of us. A character unlike any other.
Let’s help her feel comfortable and ease any anxiety she might get from worrying about finances!
