Eli is back in the hospital and needs your help!

April 16, 2024 - Good morning everyone

Victor “Eli” Fernandez is back in the ICU.

He will remain here for another couple of weeks until they flush all the antibodies that are causing his heart not to work as well as it should. We the parents are 100% involved in every aspect of this journey with Eli. We have not left Eli’s sight. We are also living with him in the hospital. My husband and I take turns so that we can go home for a bit to attend to the house and our dog buster but for NOW this is our home the hospital.

We had written on here before that this was going to be a long process and we still need your help and support. We were hoping and praying by now that Eli would start home school and was hoping to get to some kind of normality. Well, for now, this is normal for all of us until Eli gets to feeling 100% better. The treatment that the doctors are doing is for the antibodies and rejection of his donor’s heart. This will be done every other day for the next 5 days.

Eli is currently in ICU, right after he got his heart transplant his body had rejections to his new heart, so now they’re doing IV infusion to help his body not to reject his new heart
