Eleni is our Regional Supervisor in Greece and Balkans based in Thessaloniki.

She’s a bright young woman full of energy and joy.

In September 2020, following the discovery of a lump below her right knee, she was diagnosed with sarcoma at stage 3.
Her condition is considered treatable but unfortunately in Greece the National Health Care system does not have a specialized sarcoma unit unlike many European countries. Hence, she has limited treatment options which are made worse due to the pandemic and the long waiting lists for surgeries.

After a long search and 4 rejections from local surgeons, she got in touch with a surgeon willing and able to take up her case in Athens, who will be guided from the Royal Marsden Sarcoma Unit as an external consultant. Greek National Healthcare system will cover a big part of the medical costs, but further costs are needed from her side to cover for the surgery, radiotherapies and extensive physiotherapy to regain the movement of her leg.
The estimated costs to fund her recovery are approximately €15.000,00
