Our boat and the home our kids were raised on has broke free from her mooring and washed up onto the rocks during a major San Diego area storm. Elena has been my life for the past 11 years. Tow boat US, with the help of my dad and a few of our closest friends, were able to finally break it free from the sand and rocks after 5 hours of pumps running and relentlessly trying to plug the hole enough to tow her to Nielsen beaumont for an emergency haul out. The tow boat bill alone is 5,000 dollars and that doesn't include the fees for the emergency haul out or the pumps. We now have to find a way to fly down to San Diego so we can start to repair the gaping 2 foot wide hole in her bow section. It has been a financially taxing winter as its our first winter up north and Justin has been struggling to find work and keep our bills paid. The yard bill for the boat to be hauled out is going to run us into the thousands and at this point we don't have a choice. We will keep everyone updated as this all plays out. Were up against tow boat fees, emergency haul out fees, regular haul out fees to get her into a boatyard, plane tickets, materials, time off work, and whatever fines may occur.
