We are Mykhailo and Daria, the children of Elena Trehub. Our mom is currently in the Kharkiv Regional Oncology Center, fighting for her life. She is bedridden and completely dependent on care.

Our mom has always been the strongest, kindest person we know — caring, selfless, and endlessly loving. She has spent her whole life protecting us, even when she needed help herself.

In 2022, she took us out of the war zone in Kharkiv and brought us to Canada to give us safety and a future. We studied, worked, and tried to build a new life without knowing that a serious illness was silently growing inside her.

On January 13, 2024, she was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer.

She went through 7 rounds of chemotherapy and 2 major surgeries to remove her ovaries and uterus. We held on to hope, but in September 2024, the cancer returned.

Because of difficult life circumstances, our mom was forced to leave Canada and lost access to the treatment that was keeping her alive. Her condition is now critical — she cannot move on her own and needs round-the-clock care, pain relief, and constant medical support.

Before her illness worsened, our mom lived an active, independent life. She loved cooking, taking care of her home, helping others, and dreaming about the future. Now everything has changed — she cannot walk, work, or take care of herself. Watching her go through this has been heartbreaking.

We are doing everything we can, but our family’s resources are almost gone. We are terrified of losing her. She is the most precious and the most loving person in our lives.
