Help elect Ciarán Ahern to the Dáil
Donation protected
Hi there
My name is Ciarán Ahern. I’m a labour law solicitor, community volunteer, and a new councillor on South Dublin County Council.
I've recently been selected as the Labour Party’s general election candidate for Dublin South West - and I need your help in getting elected to the Dáil.
I grew up in the area and I’m lucky enough to have moved back with my young family. I know our community is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
But year after year, we’ve seen how policy failures and rising costs have made things harder for everyone. Basic needs - housing, public transport, schools, healthcare - shouldn’t be so difficult for us to access and afford. We are constantly told we’re a wealthy country, but it doesn’t feel that way and our public services don’t reflect that.
Our country needs a fresh, constructive, and optimistic perspective on the delivery of public services. As your TD, I will fight for genuine reform and progress on affordable housing, healthcare, childcare, and other cost-of-living pressures.
I’ll advocate for the infrastructure our area needs as we grow as a sustainable and welcoming city, including public transport and investment in our local communities.
I’ll fight for:
- Affordable Homes and Rents
- Effective public transport & active travel
- Expansion of community facilities
- Better social care services that match individual needs
- Accessible & affordable childcare
If you believe in my vision for Dublin South West please support my campaign by making a donation or volunteering some time to canvass with me, drop leaflets or speak with your friends and family about me and my priorities. Thank you!
For a kinder, fairer, more sustainable future.
About Me:
I grew up in Rathfarnham just off Whitechurch Road in St Gatien's Court with my parents Mary & Maurice, who still live there, along with my brothers Eoin and Dónal. I attended St Mary's BNS and Coláiste Éanna, followed by UCD and the LSE.
I’m supported in my campaign by my wife Maeve and our young son Fionn. When not with them, I can be found playing with the Rathfarnham Concert Band or jogging around Dodder Valley park.
I am a tutor and lecturer at the Law Society, where I organise our annual Calcutta Run fundraiser (raising €300,000 in 2023). I regularly provide free employment law advice at FLAC, informed by my experience as a partner at McInnes Dunne Murphy.
I am the Chair of the Board of Management of Ballyroan BNS and Chair of the Rathfarnham Concert Band. I am a co-founder of Calcutta Connect (a Rathfarnham-based charity), I organise the annual Knocklyon GOAL Mile, I serve on the committee of the Employment Law Association of Ireland and South Dublin Cycling Campaign, and have also served on the committees of the Butterfield and District Residents Association, the LSE Alumni Ireland, Coláiste Éanna Past Pupils Association and the UCD Law Society.
I would be really grateful for any support you can give to my campaign to help get me elected to the Dáil. Thank you!
