My name is Takeyece, and I’m asking for help for my grandmother, Eleanor, who lost her home in the recent category 5 hurricane in Jamaica. The storm destroyed everything she had her home, her clothes, her memories and now she’s left with nothing but the hope that her life can be rebuilt. The household had my grandmother, my aunt and her two sons, and also our special needs aunt who needs a lot of assistance on a regular day.

My grandmother has always been the light of our family the one who made sure everyone had food to eat, a place to stay, and love to feel. Now, she’s the one in need. The hurricane hit her community with devastating force, and her home was completely destroyed, the roofing was destroyed, some of the walls got knocked out by the strong wilds, the entire house was flooded so all the furniture's were ruined and those that didn't get destroyed by the flood were destroyed by heavy rain when they lost the roof of the house. She’s currently homeless, trying to stay safe while we look for a long-term place for her to live.

We are raising funds to help her with:

Emergency shelter and living expenses

Rebuilding or repairing her home

Replacing essential belongings clothes, furniture, medication

Transportation and recovery costs
