Help elderly couple rebuild from a house fire
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Luis and my parents just lost everything they own. While grocery shopping yesterday afternoon (09/07/23) they received the worst news. Their home was on fire. By the time they arrived the fire department was already there and wouldn’t even let them come close to their property. Today when my parents went to see the extent of the damages there was nothing salvageable. They don’t own anything but the clothes on their backs now. They have to start from nothing. My father just turned 69 this past Monday and my mother is 65 years old. The overwhelming feeling of having to restart at their age brakes my heart.
Unbeknownst to his children he cancelled all his insurance policies and miscellaneous expenses due to all his medical bills and medication costs. He lost his private medical insurance this year and is working to get on Medicaid. He is on a fixed income as a retired construction worker and all the inflation and cost of living has had him cutting any expenses he could. In 25 years of paying insurance policies and nothing happening, after 7 months with no policy and he looses it all. My father says he didn’t want to burden his children with his financial issues. So now they have nothing to help them rebuild. We are all doing our best to help them be there for them.
Our wish is to be able to help them not be homeless. Their friends and family have offered their homes to them but they miss their own space, a place to continue to grow old together. If you could please help us make that wish come true we would be forever grateful.
