Help Elba to Recovery
Donation protected
On September 19th, 2020 Elba Lopez, Mother/Sister/Aunt, suffered a major stroke that caused her to be hospitalized for days. Sadly this was her 3rd stroke and first and foremost we are thankful she is still with us. Unfortunately, she has severe blood clots in her brain which doctors say cannot be treated. These clots must be closely monitored along with many other complications.
She lost the ability to do most of the things she loved doing. She loved working and being independent. She loved driving and cooking big meals for her family. She loved telling jokes and making everyone laugh. All things she can no longer do, but hopefully can relearn and get back to her old self. She has also lost sight in her right eye. This ordeal has taken a huge toll on her health physically and psychologically. And as a result of the stroke, she has been learning how to talk, read, and write all over again.
Before all of this, she was known as the life of the party, was always there for others and was a hard and dedicated worker that never asked for help. It is difficult for those who love & care for her to see her like this.
We learned that with therapy she has the ability to regain some of her speech and comprehension. She has been taking speech therapy classes and is slowly learning her cognitive abilities again, but it has been a slow process. She loves taking her classes and wants to get back to hopefully being more independent and not relying on others to help her with day to day tasks.
We believe in her fighting spirit and we believe that with assistance from family, friends and the community we can help her do just that. With the extremely high medical bills, continuous medication, and 24-hour care we are reaching out. Please consider donating to Elba’s recovery. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated.
If you know anything about strokes, the recovery for them vary and can sometime take years. We want to help get Elba back to herself and get her the independence she needs. Since she has not been able to work since her stroke and we now received the new that she will be on permanent disability, however, we want to help keep her recovery going in a strong direction. Even though she had to stop working and was no longer able to do things she loved, the world kept going and bills adding up. All donations will go towards Elba directly and help pay for medical bills, medications, therapy classes, food, housing, and bills. We will continuously post updates regarding her care and recovery. We know 2020 has been difficult and even 2021, so anything you are able to share would mean the world.
Thank you!
