Our sweet little Elara needs spinal surgery to remove an intradural lipoma and detether her spinal cord. Her neurosurgeon is confident he can complete the task, and while we are scared, we remain hopeful for a positive outcome. This surgery is essential for her health and future, and we are doing everything we can to ensure she receives the best care possible.

We are hopeful that insurance will cover most of the costs, but we know there will still be significant out-of-pocket expenses. These include her procedure, pre-op and post-op appointments, travel costs to Children's in Minneapolis for all of her appointments, hospital stay (hopefully only for the weekend), prescriptions for pain and wound care if they aren't covered, and time off work for David and I to care for her after surgery. From what we hear, initial wound recovery is 2-4 weeks, with a full recovery by 3 months.
