On Tuesday evening, January 3, 2022 Elai was urgently medevaced to Kapi'olani Medical Center from his home island of Hawai'i. Following several visits to Hawai'i island E.R.'s and doctors, medical imaging detected masses in his abdominal area which required emergency testing and treatment that were not able to be accommodated on Hawai'i island.
While being cared for at Kapi'olani Medical Center (K.M.C.) Elai and his 'ohana received devastating news that confirmed the masses to be cancerous tumors, and he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Burkitt's Lymphoma, a rare and highly-aggressive non-Hodgkins type lymphoma. Elai is currently at K.M.C. with his parents where he will soon begin to receive intensive chemotherapy treatment to help him battle this sickness.
Elai is a lively, fun-loving, and brave young seven-year-old who brings so much excitement and joy to his family. He has an older brother and younger sister at home on Hawai'i island anxiously awaiting his safe return.
Due to the necessity of inter-island travel in order to receive his treatments, his parents will have to regularly take time off of work to be by his side.
Please consider helping us support him and his family from the financial load that is being accumulated during these hard times. Every donation, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated.
