Help Ekko live out her best years yet!
Donation protected
Meet Ekko! Ekko was given to my son on his 16th birthday by his grandparents and aunt. Ekko means the world to my son. Before her injury, Ekko could be found curled up on my son's desk or laid across his arm as he chats with friends on the computer.
Ekko was severely injured by a dog that doesn't live with us on Monday night, 7/28. She sustained some pretty severe injuries, including some bite wounds (one that has a drain in place that has to be suctioned 3 times a day), a broken leg, and an ankle injury that will need surgery if she is to have a good quality of life moving forward. Her ankle ligaments were torn apart (proximal intertarsal joint luxation) and not much is left holding it together. There are 2 surgery options. One is to go in and fix her ankle with plates and screws with an arthrodesis. The other surgery is to amputate. Unfortunately, both surgeries are close to $5,000.
Ekko is going to require bandage changes, drain removal, suture removal, and continued care regardless of which direction we are able to go. Right now, she is in the care of Madison Veterinary Specialists of Madison, and we hope to start using our local vet for some of the more routine checks. Will you please donate to help Ekko and Tyler get back to hanging out and being best buds?
