Help Eileen Garvin’s Children Through This Unimaginable Loss

The Barnegat community has lost a truly special person.

Eileen Garvin was a beloved member of our community who spent approximately 14 years caring for and transporting children in the Barnegat School District. She began as a school bus aide and went on to become a school bus driver. For countless children and families, Eileen was a familiar, caring, and trusted face who helped get our children safely to and from school each day.

Eileen was much more than a school bus driver. She was a valued part of our community who touched the lives of so many children, parents, coworkers, friends, and neighbors.

Tragically, Eileen’s life was taken far too soon. Her children, now young adults, are facing the unimaginable loss of their mother while also having to navigate the many responsibilities that come with such a sudden and devastating loss.

Although the funeral expenses have been taken care of, there are still many financial responsibilities ahead. Her children are facing legal and estate-related costs, household bills and other expenses that continue to arrive, as well as the difficult process of going through their mother’s home and belongings and figuring out what comes next.

If you have been wondering how you can help Eileen’s children during this incredibly difficult time, this is one way you can.

With the family’s permission, I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Eileen’s children. The funds raised will be provided directly to Eileen’s children, who will determine how the funds are used to help with the expenses and responsibilities they are facing.

Our initial goal is $20,000, but we don't yet know the full financial impact of everything Eileen's children will have to manage. Any funds raised will go toward the expenses and responsibilities they are facing as they navigate this devastating loss.

There is no amount of money that can take away the pain of losing their mother. But together, we can help make sure that financial worries don't add another burden to the grief they are already carrying.

Eileen spent years helping care for our community’s children. Now it is our turn to help care for hers.
